Our Budget Advocacy: Edition Five

The goal:

STOP the 20% cuts.
STOP the Block Grant.
STOP cuts to General Assistance.

Our plan to meet this goal:

Have everyone in Pennsylvania who is concerned about the budget cuts contact their legislators.

Do it Now

The more our legislators hear from us about Community Mental Health Services, the better chance there is that they will vote against the Governor's budget proposal.

Keep the message simple.

STOP the 20% cuts.
STOP the Block Grant.
STOP cuts to General Assistance.

Use a pre-printed postcard to send the message to your local legislator and to the Chairs of the Pennsylvania House and Senate Appropriations Committees.

Get Postcards

To order free postcards from PMHCA, contact us at 1-717-564-4930 or 1-800-887-6422 or email pmhca@pmhca.org. Please give us the address where you want them sent and the approximate number of people who will mail the cards and they will be sent to you.

People in the Harrisburg area may pick them up at our office.

Legislators

Find the name and address of your local Representative or Senator online at Find Your Legislator or in the telephone book. PMHCA staff can also help you locate them.

Thank you!

Thank you for joining with us to stop the cuts and the block grant so that we continue to have community mental health services that help us on the road to recovery.

What will YOU do to stop the cuts from happening?

Legislators need to hear stories from YOU to understand how these cuts will affect the lives of people in need.

Visit the advocacy ACT NOW section of our Web site for ideas of what to say to legislators, letter-writing examples, and how to educate others about the impact of the proposed changes.

Do your part – take action NOW.

Take Action NOW

Find your legislators and their contact information on the Pennsylvania General Assembly Web site and tell them to OPPOSE the block grant, STOP the cuts and RESTORE funding.
