General Assistance Eliminated

Our Budget Advocacy: Edition Eleven

General Assistance has been eliminated in the almost-final state budget for 2012-2013. People fought a good fight to keep this benefit for those who need it, but the General Assembly and the Governor decided it had to be eliminated.

PA Cares for All has information available for people who will lose their GA on August 1, 2012.

According to other advocacy groups, the PA Department of Public Welfare does not plan to notify people that the benefit will end June 30.

It is up to people who know that General Assistance has ended to inform those who rely on General Assistance and do not know that they will lose it. Please share the information wherever you can.
