County Casework Manager 1 (Local Government)

Employment Opportunities: York County currently has two full-time vacancies for County Casework Manager 1 (Local Government). One position is in the Office of Children, Youth, and Families; and the other position is in the Office of Mental Health/Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. These positions will work 40 hours per week.

Nature of Work: You will supervise social service supervisors and workers providing case management, counseling, and ancillary services to children, youth, and families; individuals with mental and physical disabilities; and others. Work involves screening and evaluating requests for services; assigning and reviewing work and evaluating work performance; collecting information regarding community resources and services; assisting in the development of policies, procedures, program planning, and in-service training activities; and reviewing and analyzing case records to evaluate the quality of case management and service delivery systems.

In order to be considered, applicants must be PA residents, must pass the associated Civil Service exam, and must meet the following minimum requirements: three years of experience in public or private social work which included one year in a public welfare program and one year in a supervisory capacity; and a bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Note: Some of the positions in these job titles come under the provisions of a Child Protective Services Law. If you are being considered for one of these positions, you will have to provide reports on your background from such sources as the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. If your background is unacceptable, you will be disqualified for employment in such positions. You will receive information about these requirements and how to obtain the required reports at the time you are being considered for employment.

Some of the positions in these job titles come under the provisions of the Older Adults Protective Services Act. If you are being considered for one of these positions, you will have to obtain a report of criminal record information from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you. If you have not been a Pennsylvania resident the two years immediately preceding the date you request this information, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal Record History Information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. If your background is unacceptable, you will be disqualified for employment in such position.

Starting Salary: $42,776.04/annually, plus benefits.
