Meal Transporter (Local Government) (L0885) and Van Driver (Local Government) (L0886)


The Wayne County Office of Human Services has one part-time vacancy for Meal Transporter (Local Government), and 10 part-time vacancies for Van Driver (Local Government).

Applications will only be accepted between February 5, 2018 and February 23, 2018. When applying, you must indicate a willingness to accept employment in Wayne County.

Job Duties for Meal Transporter

You will drive an average of 150 miles each day, utilizing driving safety and precautions. You will complete meal transporter log sheets. You will transport meals or surplus/pantry food, which may weigh as much as 30 pounds, from vehicle to consumer’s home. You will maintain a daily travel log.

In order to be considered for Meal Transporter, applicants must be PA residents, must pass the associated Civil Service exam, and must show six months of experience which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Necessary Special Requirement

Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Condition of Employment

No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years. Some positions may require possession of a Commercial Driver’s License, supplemented by appropriate endorsements.

Job Duties for Van Driver:

You will drive an average of 150 miles each day, utilizing driving safety and precautions. You will pick up and drop off consumers, assisting those clients who require assistance on and off of the vehicles. You will complete driver log sheets. You will transport packages, which may weigh as much as 50 pounds, from vehicle to consumer’s home. You will use a two-way radio. You will successfully complete a physical and eye examination each year.

In order to be considered for Van Driver, applicants must be PA residents, must pass the associated Civil Service exam, and must show one year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Necessary Special Requirement:

Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Legal Requirements:

Some of the positions in these job titles come under the provisions of the Older Adults Protective Services Act. Final candidates will need to obtain a report of criminal record information from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that the State Police Central Repository contains no information relating to you. If you are a final candidate but have not been a resident for two years prior to the date that you received notification that you are a final candidate, you are also required to furnish a report of Federal Criminal History Record Information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Starting Salary for Meal Transporter: $10.15/hour

Starting Salary for Van Driver: $11.24/hour
