The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry is currently recruiting to fill numerous vacancies for Unemployment Compensation Claims Intermittent Intake Interviewer in Unemployment Compensation Service Centers statewide. There are openings in each of the following counties: Allegheny, Blair, Dauphin, Erie, Indiana, and Lackawanna. All counties have 10-15 openings per service center.

This announcement will also be used to fill permanent vacancies for Unemployment Compensation Intake Interviewer. Job seekers must apply and test for Unemployment Compensation Claims Intermittent Intake Interviewer whether they are interested in permanent or intermittent positions.

You must apply for these opportunities no later than December 30, 2017. When applying, you must indicate a willingness to accept employment in Allegheny, Blair, Dauphin, Erie, Indiana, or Lackawanna County.

Job Duties:

You will interview claimants by phone to obtain information. You will enter data into a personal computer. You will determine eligibility for initial, continued, supplemental, extended, and other benefits. You will prepare forms to employers to verify eligibility of claimants.

In order to be considered, applicants must be PA residents, must pass the associated civil service exam, and must meet the following minimum requirements: Two years of experience in general office work, including one year involving interviewing the public; OR an associate’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of general office work involving interviewing the public.

Starting Salary: $16.79/hour

Work is on an intermittent basis during periods of peak unemployment claims, and may include weekend and evening hours as well as some holidays (holiday work includes premium pay). Depending on workload, hours may be less than a full work day or a full work week. Typically, shifts run between 8am and 5pm, based on operational needs for both intermittent and permanent positions. Benefits are based on the number of hours worked. You will be eligible for recurring employment as long as job performance is satisfactory
