Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
Governor Tom Wolf announced that all Children’s Health Insurance Programs have been brought up to date with the Affordable Care Act. Here a few concrete examples of how this will benefit the children and their families:
- No more annual and lifetime dollar limitations for specific services such as essential health benefits, including durable medical equipment, hearing aids, pediatric vision and dental service and orthodontic services.
- No more co-payments, coinsurance or deductibles for many preventive care services including oral hygiene education, dietary instruction and prescribed iron supplementation.
- Health Plans must now provide parity between mental health/substance abuse benefits and medical/surgical benefits.
